Say, did you hear the news? Just as we’re on the verge of finally getting ourselves a nominee, turns out there are all new worries! Now it seems we’ve all been fools, because white people don’t want to vote for a black guy! Even though he’s only half-black and was raised by his white mom and grandma, he still has enough melanin in his skin to qualify as potentially dangerous. What have we done to ourselves, Democrats? If only we’d voted for Hillary!*

*I am being facetious. No matter what the outcome of this primary had been, we would’ve spent the whole summer hearing that we’d made the wrong choice. Or, rather, we will spend the whole summer hearing that we’ve made the wrong choice, so please get ready. And if Obama loses, we’re going to spend the next twenty years fighting about how the naive, unrealistic members of the Democratic party lost us the presidency once again, just as Nader’s three percent of the vote was single-handedly responsible for eight years of George Bush. It’s enough to drive a person to the Republican party. At least they aren’t crippled by self-doubt.

And anyway, explain to me how not voting for a black guy out of the fear that a bunch of other people won’t vote for a black guy makes any sense? Why should I let someone else’s ignorance determine my actions?
