The Future Is Now
Honda just unveiled a zero emissions vehicle. The car emits zero emissions, that is … the manufacturing process that creates the car’s body, its hydrogen fuel cell and its electric battery is fueled by the blood of baby seals and creates more toxic fallout than the Chernobyl disaster. But it’s a start! Go green!
Hollywood celebrities are, of course, shoving each other onto train tracks to get their mitts on one of these babies, but only the upper-upper echelon will walk away with one. People like Jamie Lee Curtis, star of the holiday classic Christmas with the Kranks, and Ron Yerxa, producer of Christina Ricci’s mega-hit Pumpkin. And, oh, this person:

Who’s that? Why, Canadian actress Laura Harris, of course! You know, villainess Marie Warner of the hit TV show 24? When questioned about her thoughts on the new vehicle, here’s what our favorite thespian/part-time rocket scientist had to say:
“It’s so smooth,” said Harris, who played villainness Marie Warner on the hit TV show 24 and was flown over by Honda for the ceremony. “It’s like a future machine, but it’s not.”
Which reminds me of the time back in New York when my friend Don was dating a girl who was really into pinball. She went to one of the giant, ultra-neon arcades in Times Square with an itch to knock some balls around. When she asked to be pointed in the direction of the pinball machines, the 17-year-old kid working the door said, “I’m sorry … we only have games of the future here.”

I recently re-watched ‘Severance’ starring Laura Harris, which reignited the crush I had on her the first time I saw that movie. This just further fuels those flames. Anyone who can recognize the qualities of a future machine without being suckered into believing that she is actually driving one is A-OK by me.
