Lolitapop Dollhouse
The New York Times has had a somewhat repulsive (and all-too-brief) article today like over a month ago about a fashion trend known as Lolita that involves dressing up like a Victorian schoolgirl. Although I welcome the adoption of Japanese fashion trends by Americans, I would like to request that from now on, these trends only be adopted by Asian-Americans. Because on white women, it just looks sad.

Last time I checked, today is not September 26, 2008.
-ZING!-
I disagree, sir. On the proper white girl, anything can work.

That’s fair. The white girls showcased in the article? Anything but proper.

“For many young women, being a Lolita is more than a way of dress. It is a state of mind, a way to live even when not dressed as a Lolita. As Ms. Ramos summed it up, ‘For me, Lolita is rebellion.’”
This is a delicious sandwich made of sad with a heaping topping of lonely.
