Los Angeles - the home of glamor, excitement, endless traffic jams, and vast disparities of wealth. Here are a few things to do while you’re in the neighborhood.

MALIBU/SANTA MONICA/VENICE BEACH

Hiking
Temescal Canyon and Topanga State Park both feature a number of different hiking trails for the enthusiast of walking up steep hills.

Beach Life
Venice Beach is a great place to check out the local crazies, while Muscle Beach is the place where Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger earned his meathead stripes. Rent a bike and enjoy a long ride up and down the boardwalk for a relatively inexpensive day.

Santa Monica Pier
The Coney Island of Los Angeles, the Santa Monica Pier features rides, a miniature golf course, and an aquarium. Fun for the whole family!

The Getty Center
A museum unlike any other, the Getty Center is surrounded by beautiful gardens that are more impressive than most of the art showcased in its 4 different museums. Free to enter, pay to park.

HOLLYWOOD

Please note: Anything east of Santa Monica might take awhile to reach due to LA traffic; remember to factor in enough time to get back to Temescal if you venture out into the larger world.

The Farmer’s Market
One of our favorite places in Los Angeles. Lots of amazing food choices, and it’s located right next to the Grove, one of the original “lifestyle malls”.

The Museum of Jurassic Technology
Completely unexplainable. You just have to  see it for yourself. Expect to know less when you leave than you did when you came in.
